Go out into nature and explore with children.  It is good to follow their interest and build your lessons around them.  They need to be invested.

Wow, imagine the potential.  We can practice sorting by size, shape, and color.  Build without boundaries.

Modeling is good; however we need to let children use hands-on activity to learn.  They should not just observe.

It is important to work on visual and motor skills to keep all learning styles working and feeling successful.  :)  A model is needed to aid in learning and confidence.  :)

This could be a good number recognition one-on-one activity if needed.  The students will then have it to work and self-correct.  I would laminate it for the children that need extra practice.  Sending a set home is a good idea too.  :)

Start out with different first letters and see if they can find their name.  It is good to challenge preschoolers when they are able to recognize their name starts with a certain uppercase letter.

In a blink the children in our early childhood education program are taller than the teacher.  I home schooled our children in preschool.  The early years start forming them into who they will become.  Educators and families are doing work that theorists have proven of great value.   Here are some theories to aid in understanding. Give the families the benefit and assume they are trying  to do their best for their child.  Treat them with respect and as if they are an expert on their special someone.
Send home the same check list at intake for all students at the beginning of the year to have on file.  Also, ask for contact information, because it may have already changed and you will need it at some point.
Use Teacher Pay Teacher for free items before you create or spend any money.
A good strategy for a classroom is always using a picture chart, even if an Individualized Education Program (IEP) does not ask for one to be present in your classroom.

Think about a fantastic "back to school" letter now!  :) Add graphics.  :) August 5th, 2018 Dear Families,             I am very excited to meet both you and your child during your screening appointments August 18 th & 19th! J   I thought I’d start off telling you a few things about myself.   I received my Bachelor’s Degree in 2010 at Ohio University in Early Childhood Education.   I love to teach & to get kids excited about learning!   My main role had been a General Education Lead Teacher.   I now serve as an Itinerant Teacher, since I earned my Intervention Specialist License.   I love spending time with family, friends, & pets.   My husband Matt and I have 4 fantastic young adults.   I enjoy biking, walking, swimming, water safety, & anything that includes being active with nature.   I feel recycling & caring for our environment is super important, therefore I plan to incorporate these things into my lessons & classroom.

When experiencing behavior problems in the classroom we can use many strategies.  When praise, purposeful ignoring, and safe place/stop and think do not work you may need to try rewards.  For example:  post-a-note with child's name in the center and four stars on corners.  Each day the child gets opportunities to earn four stickers, which can go on those stars.  Work with their family and only use when needed.  Have a blessed night.  :)

Equal at school! :)

Remember discipline is positive, but not always fun or time friendly.  This is the way to build up healthy adults.  Take time to teach how they can succeed the next time. Punishment is degrading and harmful to the individual.  It makes you disrespect the child and  yourself. Choose wisely please.
Family Stress Tina M. Denny American College of Education Introduction: We must remember that stress can be both positive and negative.   I interviewed a close friend who fosters in the same agencies as our family.   We became a support system for each other when we shared a sibling group.   I interviewed her for this assignment and we talk every week and she is undergoing a great deal of family stress. The stress is coming in many forms currently.   Some stress from consistently changing foster placements, successfully dieting, selling their home, remodeling, and moving into a new house, all of the children have special needs, because of the trauma they experienced prior to foster care.   “ Children model their parents’ behaviors, including those related to managing stress. Parents who deal with stress in unhealthy ways risk passing those behaviors on to their children. Alternatively, parents who cope with stress in healthy ways can not only promote better adjustment

Sam is just a made-up fictional child to show how the Individualized Education Program (IEP) is a team approach. Fall 2016 Activities aligned with Daily Living Skills             Many thoughts are considered as the team is in preparation mode for Sam go to Kindergarten next year.   At has IEP renewal in September, which I was able to do as the Itinerant Teacher.   The team had many goals for him as follows: 1.     Learning goas need to be set-up with the IEP team and family. 2.     The team would like to see Sam continue to work on his Fine Skills, because he is currently getting Occupational Therapy.   3.     He will do activities with the Occupational Therapist and Itinerant in play form to improve his fine motor, without getting frustrated. 4.     The team would like to see Sam continue to improve of his oral communication skills, with the Speech and Language Pathologist, Itinerant Teacher, and all staff. 5.     His Mom would like to see him get self-h

January 15, 2018 Dear Families, We have been having a busy year so far with all of our wonderful 3 and 4 year olds in our classroom.   We continue making friends, working on strategies learn how to share, encouraging the students to make good choices, practicing cutting properly with scissors, and helping them learn about our classroom schedule.   It is important to make our expectations clear to our children and give them lots or friendly reminders.             Thank you to all of you for helping your special someone get off to a great school year start.   Please continue to send back any additional items such as:   Intake Checklist, supplies, blanket for nap, updated contact information, or conference preferred times.   Below are some fun games you can play at home to practice the skills we are doing in the classroom.   ·          Play board games with your child.   Please give them lots of encouragement for taking turns, counting, and sharing the game pieces. ·
Whenever I write a parent letter, I like to build on the last communication that went home, except for the initial welcome letter, of course.   We must consider all the learning styles that are occurring in different student’s homes.   “ There are many theories explaining how learning occurs. These explanations fall under three broad schools of thought—behaviorism, cognitivism and constructivism” (Akinsanmi, 2008, p. 1) .   I always give them many ways to contact me and try to reach out to allow them to be invested in their child’s education.   “ Even if the parent can’t give you help or make it to the classroom, you will still make your relationship stronger by showing that you value their input” (Eichholz, 2017, p. 1) .   In every new letter I give current and upcoming information, with calendar information.   “ Provide information about what's going on in your class (weekly would be ideal): what students are learning, what they've accomplishe

Yoga just happened Wednesday and it felt great. Try this in the classroom, using animal names or at home with the kids. We all need brain breaks and body movement is key.

Never loose your imagination. Be creative! :)
It is important to look at all of a person/child's abilities. You will never run out. :)
My objective is to continue to bring everyone into a team of support for each child. The school and family together equals success. :)

Currently I am finishing up my master in early childhood education. I work as an Itinerant Teacher, with a good bit of travel, meetings, and paperwork daily. Most of my year consisted of driving to nice different locations to work with students on their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. We play and learn. :)

Give families ideas!  :)  Differentiate for them too!  The grocery store is a great place for young learners or children who missed learning. Letter, color, or shape recognition: Play Ispy One-to-one correspondence: Count items as they go into the cart. Beginning reading: Use resources to build confidence Yes, this is me.  :)

How do we stop learning? Do not find out. Read and grow with your family.

Teaching to all of children's senses increases interest and learning happens. We don't all learn in the same way. Try it. :)

I was a stay-home-mom and preschool our children at home. When the youngest went into first grade I went back to school as a junior in early childhood education. Everything changed, so four full-time years later I had my degree.
My philosophy of learning is to work toward my professional goals of encompassing the whole learning community as a team to advocate for each young learner. My intent for being a graduate professional is to bring myself to the next level in our field by being educated, organized, outgoing, over prepared, joyful, and thankful. I believe that being a life-long learner makes a fantastic teacher, advocate, and co-worker.
