Give the families the benefit and assume they are trying to do their best for their child. Treat them with respect and as if they are an expert on their special someone.
This could be a good number recognition one-on-one activity if needed. The students will then have it to work and self-correct. I would laminate it for the children that need extra practice. Sending a set home is a good idea too. :)
